A few years ago J was having dinner with some good friends from work to celebrate the upcoming Christmas holiday. As we were finishing up the evening, one of my friends told us a very sad story about something that had happened the day before. Her son's friend was in his mid-twenties and self-employed. He lived on the second floor of a house nearby. Someone who lived on the first floor had been smoking and fell asleep. The house burned down. All the occupants escaped but the house was completely destroyed with everything in it.
All the young man had were the clothes on his back and his pickup truck. He had no family in the area and nowhere to go. My friend was putting him up for a few days until he could decide what to do next. Hearing this, everyone started opening their wallets to contribute money. However, my friend gave an explanation,\" He will not accept money. All he wants is a warm coat and some used clothing if anyone has some. He will be grateful for that.\"
It was a typically cold New York Christmas, and I couldn't imagine him without a coat. But I didn't know men who wore that size,2XL,so it was going to be a challenge to get one suitable coat quickly. Therefore,I decided to visit a nearby charity shop and find this young man a coat to help him out. I got dressed and went to the charity shop the next morning. I was there when it opened at nine. I went through every coat and jacket but found 15:13nothing even close to what I needed. As I headed towards the exit, I considered trying to find something in a department store, but it would be expensive, and I had no time to shop!
Suddenly, a lady came out of the back room, so I stopped to ask if she had anything in that size in the back room. I told her the story and explained how important it was to find a coat for the young man. She went into the back room and returned a couple of minutes later with what looked like a brand new coat in her arms. Paragraph 1:
She walked towards me and handed me the new coat in 2XL.
Paragraph 2:
Then my friend delivered the coat to the young man immediately.

My dog, Jethro, was always gentle and polite. From the moment we bought him home to the day he died, two things were clear: Jethro and I had a special bond, and he had extreme kindness and compassion(同'情)Jethro never chased or scared little creatures. He just loved to hang out and watch the world around him. He was a perfect field assistant for me as I studied the various birds in a hill near my house.
One day while I was sitting inside,! heard Jethro come to the front door.lnstead of gently barking as he usually did when he wanted to come in,he just sat there.I looked out at him and noticed a small furry(毛茸茸的)object in his mouth. My first reaction was that he killed a bird. However, when I opened the door, Jethro dropped at my feet a baby rabbit, which was quite alive. I couldn't see any injuries. But the little rabbit needed warmth, food and care. I guessed that the rabbit's mother had
probably been killed by a fox around my house.
Jethro looked up at me, wide-eyed, as if he wanted me to praise him. I did. He seemed SO proud of himself. But when I picked up the rabbit, Jethro's pride turned to concern. He tried to take her away from my hands, but failed. Anxiously, he followed me around as I gathered a box, a blanket, some water and food. I gently placed the rabbit in the box, named her Bunny and wrapped her in the blanket. I put some carrots near her, and she tried to eat.l5:14The whole time, Jethro was standing behind me, watching my every move. I thought he might go for Bunny or the food, but he simply stood there, attracted by the little ball of fur slowly moving about in her new home.
When I turned to leave the box, I called Jethro but he didn't move. He usually came to me immediately, but that day he remained steadfast (坚定的)near the box. Hours passed and nothing could take him away from his spot near Bunny.
Eventually, I had to drag Jethro away for his night walk. Paragraph 1:
When we returned,he went straight up to the box.
Paragraph 2:
Jethro and I walked to the woods near my house and I released Bunny from her box.

Last Thursday ,\\ had a quick thirty-minute stop in Detroit before going home to Toronto. Knowing that my gate was on the opposite end of the airport and that it would take me a long time, I began to walk quickly. I got there with five minutes to spare and stood waiting for〃Group3\"to be called.
I was tired and had an important meeting scheduled for an hour after I was set to get home. Time was important for me that day. But then I heard an announcement:\"We are very sorry that we have overbooked the flight. Would anyone like to volunteer to stay for the later flight?\"There were 100-plus people and not a single person volunteered.
The next flight was four hours later, at 7:30 p.m. I looked around and saw businessmen needing to get home for work, moms needing to get home to see their kids, kids needing to get home to see their friends, and more importantly, I saw people that needed to be helped. Even though I had planned to go back home just as much as anyone, something inside me said that I should volunteer.
I should offer some kindness to this group of strangers..The gate attendant(月艮务员)had said that nobody could board until someone volunteered.
I picked up my bag with my laptop in it and approached the desk. I said/' I can wait for the next flight.\"Seeing the unexpected result, the gate attendant smiled at me. As she was processing my ticket, I looked around at all the passengers 15:15who could now board their flight and I was happy that I had been able to help.
The attendant handed me my new boarding pass for the later flight and then said,\" This is for your kindness.\"She handed me another piece of paper. To my great joy, I saw that it was a seven-hundred-dollar voucher (that I could use to fly anywhere in the world during the next year! I had not thought I would get any reward for my behavior. Paragraph 1:
I got to my new gate and took a seat in the waiting room.
Paragraph 2:
I boarded the plane happily with the new boarding pass.
参考答案: 一 Paragraph 1:
She walked towards me and handed me the new coat in 2XL.lt was perfect! I was too shocked to speak a word. Through my tears, I asked how much it was, and she said,\" Please, just take it!\"l gave her twenty dollars and left, feeling like I had been part of something bigger than just finding a coat. I was a perfect stranger who had never even met the lady, but was treated with kindness. She was eager to find me a coat. I felt warm in my heart. Paragraph 2:
Then my friend delivered the coat to the young man immediately. When the young man was told about the challenge I met when finding the coat, he was very grateful.
He promised to try his best to pass on the kindness to people in need of help in the future.
He eventually got back on his feet with the help of other good friends. We can be called to do a seemingly small thing that has a great positive impact on others. The story reminds us why we should always live in gratitude! 二 Paragraph 1:
When we returned, he went straight up to the box. He slept through the night beside the box. I tried to get Jethro to go to his usual sleeping spot but he refused. His intention was clear::\"No way. I'm staying here/l trusted Jethro not to harm Bunny, and during the two weeks when I nursed her, he didn't do anything to even scare her. Jethro had adopted Bunny; he would make sure no one harmed her. Finally, the day came when I introduced Bunny to the outdoors. Paragraph 2:
Jethro and I walked to the woods near my house and I released Bunny from her box.
We watched her walk slowly into a pile of wood. She was careful and remained in it for about an hour until she bravely stepped out to begin her new life as a healthy and strong wild rabbit. Jethro remained in the same spot as he watched the scene. He never took his eyes off Bunny or tried to approach her. Years later, Jethro came home anxiously with a wet bird in his mouth, and we began another journey of taking care of a poor creature.
